Ex Kwara State Governmor Abdulfatah Ahmed

The immediate past governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Report says the former governor is being questioned by a team of operatives at the EFCC headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja, FCT.

He was said to have arrived at the EFCC headquarters at about 10 am on Monday, in response to an invitation extended to him by the agency.

Ahmed was in the interrogation room for about seven hours, writing statements.

His invitation is in connection to the diversion of N9 billion from the coffers of the Kwara State government, while he was governor and when he served as the Commissioner for Finance in the administration of former Governor Bukola Saraki.

A spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the former governor responded to the commission’s invitation.

Ahmed was succeeded by the incumbent governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
