The Chairman, Governing Council of Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora, says the council is working assiduously to ensure computerisation of drug distribution in the country to reduce cases of fake and unwholesome drugs.
He stated this while inaugurating a conference hall named after Professor Gabriel Osuide, at the North West Zonal office of Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria held in Kaduna.
Professor Mora said the Council would work with NAFDAC to ensure distribution of pharmaceutical products were fully computerised.
He noted that, Pharmacy profession would be hundred years in Nigeria by 2027 in the area of regulation and control of pharmacy education, training as well as practice to better health care of citizens.
According to him, Nigeria has over three hundred pharmacy professors and various outlets of accessing pharmaceutical products across the country.
He noted that, the skills, expertises and competencies of the practitioners had been enhanced through acquisition of appropriate credit points under
the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme of the PCN.
Professor Ahmad Tijjani Mora commended the zonal office for immortalising Professor Gabriel Osuide, a former Pharmacist Council of Nigeria chairman, who had made valuable contributions to the profession.
In a remark, the Registrar of PCN, Nuradeen Mohammed said Professor Osuide was honoured following his years of contribution to the nation.
The Zonal Director, Pharmacist Council of Nigeria, Jibril Abubakar said the event would serve as a motivation for others to do more, and thanked all those who made it possible.
Former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha represented Professor Gabriel Osuide and thanked all the stakeholders for the gesture.
