House of Representatives has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately begin a review of constituency delineation as enshrined in the constitution.

This followed the adoption of a motion moved under matters of urgent public importance, by the minority leader, Mr Ndudi Elumelu during plenary in Abuja.

Mr Elumelu who decried that INEC had not done any review of constituencies in the last 22 years, described it as a violation of the constitution.

He said some federal constituencies were twice in size and population, which was at variance with the law.

The Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabimila  mandated the committee on electoral matters to interface with the leadership of INEC and report back in six weeks.
