Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan

Federal Government has directed public servants on GL12 and below to continue working from home till the end of march.

This is in adherence to the advice of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan said in a statement on Thursday.

A work from home directive has been in effect since January 2021 as coronavirus infections in the country saw a steep increase at the end of 2020, with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, recording as high as over 1000 infections in a day.

With 156, 963 cases and 1939 death as at Thursday March 4, NCDC reported less than 400 infections per day, in the last one week.

While affirming a reduction in the number of cases, Dr Yemi-Esan stressed that the downward trend needed to be maintained, hence the need for the extension of the work-from-home directive.

She emphasised on ensuring strict compliance with guidelines on the prevention and spread of COVID-19.
