Barely two days after the release of the abducted Kankara school boys in Katsina State, another set of 80 Islamiyya school pupils have been abducted, this time in Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, has announced in a statement that all the 80 pupils have been rescued alongside four other kidnapped persons.

The statement says the pupils, who were abducted while returning from a Maulud procession at Unguwar Alkasim village, were rescued on Saturday night by a joint team of Operation Puff Adder, Operation Sahel Sanity and Operation Sharan Daji with reinforcement from members of the local vigilante in Mahuta village.

It says the team engaged the bandits in a gun duel thereby dislodging them and rescuing all the 84 kidnap victims and recovering 12 cows rustled by the bandits at Danbaure village.

The statement notes that a surveillance team from the police, Nigerian army and the local vigilante were still combing the forest area to arrest the injured bandits or possibly recover their dead bodies.
