Federal Government has been advised to, create Hydro Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission HYPPADEC to address problems bedevilling the affected communities.

Chairman, Niger state House of Assembly Committee on Rules and Business who is also the Chairman Ad-hoc Committee on HYPPADEC Comrade Abdullahi Shaba Gbara gave the advice while addressing Newsmen in Minna.

Comrade Abdullahi Shaba explained that the only way through which people from Plateau, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Kogi and Benue states could be relieved of negative impact associated with annual flooding coupled with other numerous problem confronting them.

On the names of Managing Director HYPPADEC as well as Chairman Governing Council and it’s members forwarded to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation, the Chairman appealed for action at ensuring speedy confirmation.

Comrade Abdullahi Shaba who frowned at ceeding the Chairmanship to another state instead of Niger state despite its contributions to Nigerian economy would also wants Niger state to be given two board members.

This is because Niger state is housing the Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro hydro dams and the worst hit by negative effect of such dams”

He however, commended efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari, Governnor Abubakar Sani Bello, SSG Emirs as well as members of National and state Assembly including stakeholders for their contributions in reaching this far and called for more to succeed.
