Nigerian Senate At Plenary

The Senate has extended the time frame for all it’s outstanding committees to present it’s reports to the appropriation committee.

President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan announced this while commenting on the budget defence exercise.

Senator Ahmad Lawan said about twenty two committees were yet to submit their report to the appropriation committee as earlier scheduled, these prompted the extension of the time to Friday this week to able them meet date line,

This according to him, will give the appropriation committee the chance to complete it’s report for hermonization with the House of representatives before the Senate plenary for confirmation

Meanwhile, President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has acknowledged the receipt of five letters from president Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation of some nominees

The first letter requested for confirmation of eight nominees as Chairman and Managing Director as well as members of Governing Board of Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission and seven nominees of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities

Also a letter requesting confirmation of Professor Mahmud Yakubu as chairman INEC for the second term and confirmation of professor Abdullahi Zuru, INEC National Commissioner to replace Abubakar Nahuche who resigned after spending four years, he stated.

Similarly, the Senate received the nomination of Umar Faruk Aliyu for confirmation as full time commissioner in the National Pension Commission.
