House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to provide 50 billion naira bailout fund to Aviation to enable the sector cushion the effect of Corona Virus Pandemic.

Chairman, House committee on Aviation, Mr Nnolim Nnaji, made the call in Abuja while addressing National Assembly Correspondent on the outcome of public hearing on the amendment Bills of some civil aviation Acts.

Mr Nnolim Nnaji, who was concerned about the comments of some operators during the public hearing said the industry was in dare need of urgent intervention to save it from imminent collapse.

The committee Chairman emphasized that despite the economic hardahip faced by country the sector had in 2019 contributed over 198 billion naira to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).

According to him, the Aviation industry is strategic, not only for its potential to economic growth but also for crucial role in national development and regional integration.
