Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Faruk

 The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk has lifted the suspension of Nasarawa State from the Conditional Cash Transfer programme.     

The directive to lift the suspension is a fall out of a meeting between the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule and the Minister held in Abuja.    

A Statement signed and Issued to newsmen in Lafia by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Ibrahim Addra said Nasarawa State with Forty- eight thousand beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme was suspended along with the State Operations Coordinating Unit, SOCU on the fifth of August this year, due to fraudulent activities from officials of the program in some Local Government Areas.

The Statement said following the suspension, Governor Abdullahi Sule had  set up an investigative committee  headed by a former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Timothy Anjide to investigate the matter and report back to Governor for prompt action.   

The minister also gave assurance that the cash transfer intervention programme in Nasarawa State will soon be expanded to cover more local government areas other than the original Six Local Government areas.
