Experts in mental health in Nigeria say many people have undiagnosed mental health problems that can lead to dementia.

Many people suffer from cerebral palsy but without realizing it or being aware of the problem but then pretending it does not happen.

Dr Auwal Abubakar Fatihu, a psychiatrist at the Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano, Nigeria, said: Eyes and so on, but when it comes to mental health, people think everything without going to the doctor.

That is why “some statistics show that 30% of people who come to the hospital in every city in Nigeria suffer from psychiatric problems,” said Dr Auwal.

In Nigeria and other African countries, associating a person with a mental illness is like describing a person as insane and sometimes such statements lead to legal action.

However, psychiatrists say this is not the case as many people are mentally ill.

Mental health expert Dr Auwalu Fatihu Abubakar has identified some of the symptoms under what he calls changes in the way a person conducts his affairs, as symptoms of mental illness.

BBC reports that One of the most recent developments in mental health is the cholera epidemic, which has left the world’s population in a state of shock and uncertainty.
