Niger Govt Conducts Town Hall Meeting On 2023 Budget

Niger state government says the public interaction on twenty twenty three budget is to further make governance more transparent accountable and responsive to the public as enshrine in the constitution.

State Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello stated this at a town hall meeting organised by the Niger State Planning Commission and Niger State House Of Assembly Commission Planning and Appropriation on the twenty twenty three budget in Minna.

Represented by his Deputy Ahmed Mohammed Ketso the Governor maintained that budget consultation and town hall meeting in Niger state have come to stay in view of the benefits drived from obtaining such inputs from public  for budget preperation and presentation.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello explained that the town hall meeting has provided a platform for an all inclusive and participatory democracy where Nigerlites are carried along in decision making for maximum benefit.

He said they have started with zonal consultation where stakeholders from twenty five local government councils of Niger state are engaged and their needs were noted and documented in line with the accountable posture of the current administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for necessary action.

In his remarks Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane challenged Civil Society Organisations CSO’s to participate in monitoring and tracking of twenty twenty three budget of the state government to make it more responsive to the yearnings of its people.

State Commissioner Planning Commission Alh Zakari Abubakar who gave an overview of the twenty twenty proposed budget of two hundred and thirty eight point nine billion naira said a total of sixty nine major projects spread across twenty five local government councils are to be executed in the balanced budget to improve lives of Nigerlites.

In her welcome adress Permanent Secretary Planning Commission hajiya Ramatu Umar who described the town hall meeting on twenty twenty three budget as the first of it’s kind in Niger state history stressed the need for Nigerlites to contribute positively to ensure its success.
 
Various NGO’s including the representative of Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger state Council of Traditional Rulers Alh Yahaya Abubakar the Wamban Nupe Engineer Abdullahi Ndagi Aliyu have offered  positive advice on way forward during the town hall meeting.
