Fire Outbreak Destroys Katsina Central Market

A fire outbreak is raging at the central Market in Katsina.

The inferno which has already burnt most of the shops in the market started at about half past six in the morning when it was barely noticed.

By the time the market was opened at about eight in the morning, the fire had consumed most of the shops in the market.

Our Correspondent who is currently at the market reports that several fire fighting trucks and officials have entered the nooks and crannies of the market trying frantically to put out the fire.

traders and other good samarithans are also assisting officials of the fire fighting department to quench the inferno.

The State Commissioner of Information, Alhaji AlbdulKareem Sirika whose ministry supervises the Fire Service Department said the state government had deployed its fire fighting trucks from all parts of the state to the Central Market, Katsina, to put out the fire.

Abdulkareem Sirika who is also at the market alongside Fire Service department officials urged people of the state to remaln calm as authorities were working to minimize damage as a result of the fire incident.
