Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has presented an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and 11 patrol vehicles to the Nigerian Military, Civilian JTF and Hunters to strengthen security in Damasak, Borno state.

Damasak the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government is located in the fringes of Lake Chad and shares border with Niger Republic had recently came under series of attacks by the insurgents but were all repelled by the military.

Governor Zulum spent thursday night at Damasak thereby ending speculations that the town had fallen to insurgents.

The Governor during the two day visit interacted with soldiers and other security agencies promised to provide additional support that would help in the fight against insurgency.

He equally empathised with residents who suffered losses during the attacks and assured of robust measures to avert future attacks on the town.

“Zulum confirmed from residents that 18 people had died, 21 injured and several property including UN humanitarian hub, police station, palace of the District Head, as well as primary healthcare centre were destroyed during Tuesday’s attack”.

Governor Zulum directed the strengthening of agricultural activities and assessed a rice farm in Damasak.
