Senate President Godswill Akpabio says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term will be a unity government that promotes political inclusion and national cohesion.

He stated this during today’s plenary while reacting to comments by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele on the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, which includes members of opposition parties.

Senate President described the development as historic, noting that it was unprecedented since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 for a sitting president to constitute a campaign council involving members of almost all political parties.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates a commitment to inclusiveness beyond infrastructure development, revenue allocation and reforms, extending to a shared sense of purpose in the country’s democratic process.

Akpabio expressed optimism that the broad-based political arrangement would strengthen national unity and encourage cooperation among political parties in advancing Nigeria’s democratic development.
