The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as ABG, has promised equitable distribution of resources across the state’s three senatorial zones if elected governor.
He also pledged that budget preparation and implementation under his administration would be guided by the needs and priorities of the people.
Shehu Bawa made the promises during a town hall meeting with PDP stakeholders in Zone One, held in Zaria over the weekend.
A statement issued by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, said the meeting was attended by religious leaders, student groups, women and youth organisations, Community Development Associations, party officials from the state and local governments, as well as PDP candidates contesting various positions.
Shehu Bawa, alongside his running mate, Amos Adamu Gandu, said their administration would prioritise people-centred policies through a bottom-up approach that would allow citizens to identify their needs and determine development priorities rather than having decisions imposed on them by the government.
The PDP candidate solicited the support of the electorate, assuring them that his administration would uphold fairness, accountability and respect for the rule of law.
The statement also quoted the party’s Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Danbaba SayaSaya, as urging PDP candidates to take their manifestos to the electorate, expressing optimism that the party had a promising political future.
In his remarks, the Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Edward Percy Marsha, cautioned residents against being misled, arguing that they had experienced the differences between the PDP’s leadership approach and that of other political parties in delivering democratic dividends and providing good governance.
In their separate remarks, religious leaders, student representatives, Community Development Associations, and women and youth groups in the zone expressed their willingness to support the PDP governorship candidate, while commending his manifesto and proposed development agenda.
