The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has arrested two suspects in connection with the vandalism of electrical transformer cables in the Tanke-Iledu area of Ilorin.
The suspects, identified as Nurah Abdullahi, 20, also known as Hartabo, and Sherif Abdullahi, 23, were apprehended on October 5 following an intelligence-led operation by NSCDC operatives.
Items recovered from the suspects during the operation included vandalised transformer cables, inner and outer cable insulation, a Bajaj motorcycle, a saw, a knife, and a pair of electrical gloves.


Preliminary investigations linked both suspects to recent acts of vandalism targeting power infrastructure in Tanke-Iledu.
Authorities of the command stated that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest additional suspects believed to be involved in the operation.
The Commandant, Kwara State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC , Abbas Mohammed, warned against the destruction of public utility assets, noting that intelligence-driven patrols and operations will continue across the state.
