National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of education in Nigeria.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NBAIS, Professor Yahuza Sulaiman Imam, stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Zaria as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Professor Yahuza said education remains the bedrock of national development, stressing that no country can achieve meaningful progress without an educated population.

He explained that NBAIS was established by the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, to bridge the gap between Islamic and Western education.

According to him, the institution has achieved significant progress in fulfilling its mandate, helping to reduce the number of uneducated youths roaming the streets.

The Registrar noted that NBAIS is now widely recognised in Nigeria and abroad as a platform for gaining admission into various institutions of higher learning.

He added that NBAIS certificates are accepted for admission into various fields of study, including Tajweed, Tahfeez, Islamic Law and the sciences.

Professor Yahuza congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Education Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

He called on Nigerians to continue to live peacefully with one another and embrace education as a tool for national development.
