Kaduna State Peace Commission has intensified its campaign by paying advocacy visits to peace committees earlier inaugrated by the state governor in a sustained effort to end persistent conflicts in Local Government Areas of the state.

Chairman of the Commission, Most Reverend Josiah Idowu Fearon stated this while addressing newsmen during a quarterly meeting of the Commission in Kaduna.

He expressed satisfaction that relative calm and social order had prevailed in most Local Government Areas where violent conflicts were recurring in parts of Kaura, Zangon Kataf, Kajuru and Kachia.

According to him, the commission was also beaming its search light in the areas of substance abuse, kidnapping, rape and cattle rustling in Local Government Areas such as Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Chikun, Giwa and Kachia.

Most Reverend Idowu Fearon appreciated the Local Government chairmen for cooperating and supporting the peace efforts and supporting the committees with logistics.

He said the Commission received tremendous support and cooperation from domestic and international partners in the area of capacity building as well as training community stakeholders and other peace workers.

The clergyman observed that community driven initiatives are often the best and more workable approach to building and sustaining peace.
