The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Kaduna State Council, has passed a vote of confidence in the administration of Governor Uba Sani, citing what it described as the government’s commitment to a harmonious relationship with organised labour and improved workers’ welfare.
The decision was taken at the 33rd session of the State Executive Council during an emergency meeting of the Congress held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the TUC Secretariat in Millennium City, Kaduna.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, read by the Chairperson of the Trade Union Congress Comrade Abdullahi Danfulani commended the administration for promoting job security, improving the timeliness of staff promotions and approving the reinstatement of 37 staff of the Local Government Service Commission who were allegedly wrongfully disengaged.
Comrade Abdullahi Danfulani also highlighted the state government’s free CNG transport scheme, saying it had helped reduce workers’ transportation challenges and costs, while improving punctuality and productivity. It, however, appealed to the governor to extend the scheme to Zaria and Kafanchan.
Other achievements cited by the Chairperson of TUC Comrade Abdullahi Danfulani include the resuscitation of the Civil Service Welfare Loan Scheme, which provides loans ranging from ₦400,000 to ₦1.5 million repayable over four years, local and international training programmes for civil servants, regular payment of salaries, the creation of the Office of the Special Adviser on Labour Matters and a 50 per cent reduction in institutional fees.
The communique however, appealed to Governor Sani to approve the implementation of consequential adjustments for core civil servants and facilitate the reinstatement of 83 workers of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) and other affected agencies. According to the TUC, 13 of the affected workers have died since their disengagement in 2019, while their cases were reportedly determined in their favour by the National Industrial Court in Kaduna.
The TUC reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful and constructive engagement with the Kaduna State Government and relevant authorities, stressing that it would continue to advocate justice, fairness and inclusive governance in the interest of workers and the state.
