In strict compliance to the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescue the kidnapped worshippers by bandits in Borgu, Niger state unhurt, the Inspector General of Police IGP Olatunji Disu has visited the state to ginger, motivate and boost the morale of officers and men of the Command to swung into action to achieve the desired objective.

Addressing officers and men of the Niger State Police Command in Minna in an interactive session during a one day official visit, the IGP said his visit is not ceremonial but to thanked them for the good work they were doing and find a more tactical way of addressing their problems.

IGP Olatunji Disu who condemned the attack in strong terms also explained that in order to fastrack the rescue operation that is why he has deployed the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone seven Victor Olaiya to Niger state to facilitate the operation, deployed the counter terrorism unit and EOD among others for effective service delivery.

He however charged officers and men of the Niger state Police Command to continue to remain vigilant and proactive in the discharge of their duties, would also wants them to deepen their relationship with the traditional, community and religious leaders to ensure the success of the fight against banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the society.

IGP Olatunji Disu, who promised to promised to accord prominence on the welfare of Police and their retirement benefits, expressed happiness that complaints against police officers action has drastically reduced compared to when he came onboard and advised them to always project the image of Nigerian Police in a more positive manner.

In his remarks, Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, thanked the IGP for the visit and solicited for additional manpower, armoured personnel carrier and the deployment of modern tools to enhance their operation, while assuring that his officers and men remain resolute in the protection of lives and properties of people residing in the state.

Adamu Abdullahi Elleman said despite the challenges confronting them they were able to arrest some bandits and their collaborators, dismantling of armed robbery gang, arrested some people in possession of illegal arms and the recovery of some stolen livestock among others, to nip in the bud cases of criminal activities in parts of Niger state despite its difficult terrain and large landmass.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu who described the Niger State Police Command as one of the Command in Nigeria that has not been given them sleepless night was accompanied to the Police Headquarters Minna, by the Niger state Commissioner of Home Land Security, Maurice Magaji, and members of some security agencies members of PCRC, POWA and the Vigilante.
