Kaduna State Government says every child of school age in the state must have access to basic education before the end of the present administration.
Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Malam Mubarak Mohammed, stated this during the 2026/2027 School Enrollment Campaign held at the Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market in Kaduna.
Malam Mubarak Mohammed stressed that children of school age should not be found roaming the streets during school hours, while urging parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards are enrolled in school.
The SUBEB Chairman, who expressed concern over the high number of out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria, however commended Governor Uba Sani for the progress recorded in Kaduna State.
He said the administration had successfully returned over 360,000 children to school, reducing the number of out-of-school children in the state from over 500,000.
Malam Mubarak Mohammed disclosed that SUBEB had constructed over 2,000 classrooms to accommodate the increasing number of pupils returning to school.
The campaign was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of basic education and encouraging parents to enrol their children in school.
During the campaign, five children presented themselves for enrolment during the advocacy campaign, prompting the SUBEB Chairman to direct relevant officials to ensure their immediate enrolment in primary schools.
