The Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Dr. Builder Muhammad Uba, has urged Muslims to give Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam.
In a statement to Radio Nigeria marking this year’s Maulud celebration, the chairman also urged Muslims to lead exemplary lives and avoid extravagance during marriage ceremonies.
Dr. Muhammad Uba stressed the need for herders to desist from trespassing on farmlands, while farmers should avoid cultivating grazing reserves and cattle routes to promote peace and stability in the area.
According to him, the annual Maulud celebration was an opportunity to remind Muslims of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the need to emulate his exemplary character.
He said the modesty perseverance and forgiveness exhibited by the Prophet Muhammad will guide every Muslim in his personal and social dealings.
The Chairman also called on the Ulama to continue to pray for peace and socio economic wellbeing of the country.
