The Guardian of Peace and Youth Mentor Award presented to the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), by the Naomi Stephen Children Foundation has been described as well deserved and commendable.

The award was presented during the just-concluded Kaduna Summer Children Party held at Gonin Gora, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Speaking while receiving the award on behalf of the minister, the National Coordinator of the MUSAWAH for Youth and Development Initiative, Ambassador Polycarp Danladi Gankon, commended the foundation for recognising the minister’s contributions to youth and children’s development.

Gankon said the award was particularly appropriate because General Musa is the Grand Patron of the MUSAWAH for Youth and Development Initiative, which has more than 200 registered organisations working to promote the political and social development of youths and women across the state.

He said the minister’s contributions to the empowerment of children, youths and community leaders had been widely felt, adding that he would convey the foundation’s message and appreciation to him.

Gankon also invited the Naomi Stephen Children Foundation to register with the initiative, saying such collaboration would strengthen efforts to promote youth and community development.

He pledged the initiative’s support and willingness to work with the foundation towards the overall development of society.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Naomi Stephen Children Foundation, Naomi Ochanya Anzaku, said the delegation visited the headquarters of the MUSAWAH for Youth and Development Initiative to present the appreciation letter and award to the minister through the National Coordinator.

She said the minister was the father of the day and a key sponsor of the maiden Kaduna Summer Children Party.

Anzaku expressed the foundation’s desire for stronger collaboration with the initiative, adding that the foundation had unanimously appointed the Minister of Defence as its Patron.
