Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has presented 26 official vehicles to judicial officers in the state as part of efforts to strengthen the judiciary and enhance the effective administration of justice.

 

Speaking at the official presentation and distribution of the vehicles held at Government House Gusau, Governor Lawal said the gesture was a fulfillment of his administration’s obligation to support an independent, effective and responsible judiciary.

 

Governor Lawal said the provision of the vehicles was aimed at ensuring that judicial officers had the necessary working conditions to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively, independently and with dignity.

 

He said the 26 vehicles distributed comprised a brand-new Land Cruiser and a utility vehicle for the State Chief Judge, a brand-new Land Cruiser and a utility vehicle for the Grand Khadi, 13 vehicles for High Court judges and 11 vehicles for Khadis of the Sharia Courts.

 

According to him, the vehicles were intended to ease the mobility of judicial officers, improve access to courts and facilitate judicial assignments, thereby contributing to faster and more efficient dispensation of justice across the state.

 

In her remark, the Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu commended Governor Dauda Lawal for providing official vehicles to judges of the High Court and Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

 

She said the provision of the vehicles would greatly improve the mobility of judges and Kadis, enabling them to discharge their constitutional responsibilities more efficiently.

 

According to her, the gesture was particularly timely, coming at a period when the judiciary was facing several logistical challenges.

 

The Chief Judge also disclosed that the ongoing renovation of the High Court Complex was nearing completion, expressing optimism that the judiciary would soon relocate to the renovated facility.

 

Justice Aliyu assured Governor Lawal that the vehicles and the renovated court complex would be put to their intended use and contribute to the speedy and effective administration of justice in Zamfara State.

 

She expressed appreciation to the governor for his continued support to the judiciary and for recognising it as an indispensable arm of government and a critical pillar of democracy and good governance.
