A section of Funtua market, the commercial nerve of Katsina State has been consumed by fire destroying properties worth millions of Naira.
This is happening barely two weeks after the Katsina Central Market was gutted to the ground by a yet to be investigated fire incident, destroying shops and properties also worth millions.
Though the exact cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained, there are speculations that the fire may have originated from the second-hand clothing section of the market or the area where other fairly used items are sold in the market.
Funtua LGA is the headquarters of Katsina South senatorial district popularly referred to as Karaduwa Zone and it is the second most populated local government in Katsina State.
