Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State says the prevailing security challenges in the country will end when leaders and citizens work towards that.

He made the observation in Abuja while speaking with newsmen after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dr Kayode Fayemi said their major concern was the farmers-iherders crises, however expressed optimism for a long lasting solution given the move by many states in implementing the National Livestock Transformation Plan, which would confine herders to dedicated spaces to avoid factors breeding conflicts between them and farming communities.

The Governor acknowledged the resilience of the President in restoring peace, unity, and development, and called on the citizenry to complement that by joining in the fight against crime in their own little ways.

On the autonomy of local governments and the judiciary, Governor Kayode said they still support the issue, but that they needed to resolve areas of disagreement.

He said their objection was the Executive Order issued by the President to enforce it, since the issue is constitutional in nature.

Governor Kayode also advised the president of the National Union of Local Government Employees to instead table their concerns before members of the Constitutional Review Committee, rather than issue threats.
