The coordinator of the 35TH QUR’ANIC recitation competition Professor Abubakar Yelwa Muhammad said over 300 contestants were competing in six categories at the on going competition

Professor Yelwa made the disclosure during an interview with radio Nigeria’s correspondent Khadijah Aliyu in kano

The national coordinator from the center of Qur’anic studies Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, explained that the contestants were selected from the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory.

He said six categories of the competition consist of the highest category, which is the memorization of the entire Quran 60 ahzab, including questions on the meaning and interpretations of the glorious Quran.

“The idea of conducting the competition in the national level was to bring nigerian youths together to adopt islamic principles and promote cordial relationship that will lead to peaceful coexistance in the nation”

Professor Abubakar Yelwa pointed out that the panel of judges consists of six judges selected based on merit, and were one time contestants at the national QUR’ANIC recitation competition.

“We have six judges six active one reserved based on their practical experiences and area of specialization we co-opt them to serve”

He urged participants and the general public to adhere to all covid 19 protocols to curtail the spread of the pandemic

Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the competition and promised to work hard in ensuring its success

The ongoing 35th QUR’ANIC recitation competition witnessed large turn out of participants,islamic scholars, lecturers, students, journalists and the general public
