The Defence Families Empowerment and Development Trust Fund (DEFEND Trust Fund) Campaign has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for inaugurating the Armed Forces Fund, describing the move as a major step toward strengthening the welfare of military personnel and their families.

The Lead Advocate and National Coordinator, Mohammed Usman Thompson, gave the commendation in a press statement and made available to journalists in Kaduna.

He said the initiative of the President marks a significant milestone in building sustainable support systems for members of the Armed Forces, particularly widows, spouses, and dependents affected by the demands of service.

The campaign noted that the President’s decision reflects responsiveness to public concerns and stakeholder advocacy, including efforts by the DEFEND Trust Fund Campaign to promote a structured welfare and empowerment framework for military families.

It also applauded President Tinubu for donating his salary to the Fund, describing the gesture as a demonstration of patriotism, sincerity, and commitment to the well-being of service personnel.

The group called on state governors, service chiefs, and heads of security agencies as well as well political office holders to support the initiative through meaningful contributions and active participation to ensure its sustainability.

According to the statement, collective efforts toward the Fund would boost the morale of military personnel and enhance their dedication to national duty.

The DEFEND Trust Fund Campaign reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the transparent implementation of the initiative and pledged continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure it delivers lasting impact across the country.
