The Nigerian Army has expressed the need for continuos learning and adaptation in the face of evolving social media landscape.
General Officer Commanding One division, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Wase stated this while declaring open, a three-day social media sensitization lecture organised by the Nigerian Army cyberwarfare command held in Kaduna.

Major General Abubakar Sadiq Wase stressed the need for personnel to stay ahead of the curve in understanding and leveraging social media for national security and defence.
Represented by Colonel Ikechukwu Akabike, the GOC explained that in today’s digital age, social media has become an integral part of life, shaping public opinion, influencing security dynamics and impacting operational effectiveness.
He noted that social media is a double edged sword that can serve as a powerful tool for communication, engagement and intelligence, and also pose as risks to security and reputation if mismanaged.
The GOC emphasized that the forum provides the opportunity for participants to gain insights into best practices, understand risks and learn strategies to harness social media positively.
“This lecture series is a step towards building capacity and enhancing awareness among Nigerian Army personnel to navigate these challenges”he said.
Major General Abubakar Sadiq Wase urged participants to take full advantage of the lecture to clear doubts, engage with experts and show keen interest in learning, as the knowledge gained would enhance their ability to operate effectively in today’s digital landscape.
He commended the Nigerian Army cyberwarfare command for its efforts in promoting responsible social media usage and for recognizing the importance of cyber security and digital awareness in modern defence strategies.
The three day lecture drew officers and soldiers from various units and formations of the Nigerian Army.
