A member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Abdulmalik Zubairu Zanna, has described the defection of Governor Dauda Lawal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a step toward the state’s prosperity.

Zanna made the remarks while addressing a large gathering of his supporters drawn from the 147 political wards of the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the governor’s defection to the APC would foster unity, peace, and political stability, as well as accelerate development across Zamfara State.

According to the lawmaker, the decision by Governor Lawal to join the APC was both strategic and commendable, noting that it reflects a commitment to the progress and stability of the state.

“On behalf of my supporters across the state, I declare my full support for the recent defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to the APC”

Zanna added that he aligned with his political leader, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in welcoming the governor into the party.

He stressed that his political movement is rooted in promoting peace, unity, and development, not only in Zamfara State but across Nigeria.

The lawmaker further assured the President, APC leadership at both state and national levels, and party stakeholders of his continued commitment to strengthening the party and advancing its objectives.

He also commended party supporters for their resilience and unwavering support despite challenges, noting that their dedication has contributed to the unity and growth of the APC in the state.

Abdulmalik Zanna described his political movement as a positive force within the APC, aimed at driving progress and development in Zamfara State.

The National Secretariat of the APC has scheduled Tuesday, March 24, to officially receive Gov. Lawal into the party.

The governor’s reception into the party will be performed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the National leadership of the APC, assisted by all the former governors of the state.
