The Nasarawa State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and violent crimes.
Police operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, raided the hideout of a suspected kidnapper at Gidan Akuya in Keana Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said the suspects attempted to flee on sighting the operatives but were pursued by the police.
During the operation, one suspect, Jibril Yunusa, was arrested.
A search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one empty magazine and a locally fabricated rifle.
Police said the suspect confessed during interrogation to participating in several kidnapping operations within the Keana and Awe axis of Nasarawa State and has provided useful information to assist ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to track down the fleeing members of the gang.
He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
