Muslims have been urged to intensify prayers and other acts of worship during the remaining days of the holy month of Ramadan, especially by seeking divine intervention for lasting peace, improved security, and economic stability in the country.
The appeal was made by a community leader, Bashir Umar Dattijo, while speaking with journalists in Zaria.
Malam Bashir Umar Dattijo explained that the final days of Ramadan provide a special opportunity for Muslims to draw closer to Allah through prayers, repentance, and other acts of devotion, particularly at a time when the country is facing security challenges and other forms of criminal activities.
According to him, sustained prayers and moral discipline among the faithful can play a significant role in promoting peace, unity and progress in society.
The community leader, who also holds the traditional title of Dan Galadiman Madakin Zazzau, commended Islamic scholars conducting this year’s Ramadan Tafsir sessions for the responsible and peaceful manner in which they delivered their sermons.
He noted that the scholars carried out their Tafsir sessions in a calm and respectful atmosphere without engaging in insults or inflammatory remarks capable of creating division among Muslims.
Malam Bashir Umar Dattijo also advised Nigerians to continue fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among one another in order to maintain stability and harmony in the country.
He further called on the three tiers of government to introduce policies and programmes that would help ease the economic hardship currently being experienced by citizens, particularly the difficulties arising from the recent increase in the price of petrol.
The community leader equally appealed to politicians and wealthy individuals to extend support to the less privileged by providing them with food items, clothing and other basic necessities to enable them celebrate the forthcoming Eid festival with dignity.
He also cautioned youths against indulging in drug abuse and other social vices during the Eid celebrations and afterwards.
Dan Galadiman Madakin Zazzau, Malam Bashir Umar Dattijo therefore advised them to reflect on the lessons and teachings they received during Ramadan and apply them in their daily lives in order to become responsible and productive members of society.
