The Kukah Centre has validated Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of the Kaduna Vigilance Service-KADVS and ensuring inter-agency coordination.

Speaking during the validation session, Project Manager of the Centre, Mr Terseer Bamber explained that the SOPs were based on the assessment of the law establishing KADVS and the recommendations arising from the assessment.

According to him, the SOPs highlight step by step procedures to guide the operations of personnel of the Service in areas such as crowd control, community engagement, traffic management, arms handling among others.

Mr Bamber noted that going forward, it is expected that the KADVS would be guided by the document, thereby boosting its image and enhancing its legitimacy in communities.

Also speaking during the session, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Sule Shu’aibu, said his ministry would ensure the operationalization of the document, in order to ensure that KADVS achieves the mandate for which it was established.

He thanked the Kukah Centre for the initiative and pledged the support of the ministry towards the completion of project activities in the state.

In his presentation, a security consultant, Mr Zakaria Tari said the SOP was essential to enable KADVS go about its duties professionally.

The validation session drew participants from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Traditional Institution, Federal Security formations as well as the Media.

The Improving Community Security Initiatives for Accountable Service Delivery project is supported by the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria-SPRiNG Programme, an initiative of the UK foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and implemented by Tetra Tech International Development.
