Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has called on Muslims in the Country to start looking for the new moon of Ramadan from tomorrow the 29th of Sha’aban 1447AH, equivalent to 17th of February 2026 .
This was made known in a statement by the chairman Advisory Committee on religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu.
He said if sighted, the information should be forwarded to the nearest village or district head for onwards communication to the Sultan.
The statement cited that the Monthly Observation of the moon clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the Country.
