The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, as well as similar incidents reported in neighbouring Niger State, describing them as barbaric and a grave threat to peace and human dignity.

In a press statement signed by its Director General Abubakar Gambo Umar, the Foundation expressed deep sorrow over confirmed reports that at least 75 innocent people lost their lives during the attacks.

SABMF noted that such acts are alien to Nigeria’s cultural values, religious teachings, and long-standing traditions of communal coexistence.

The Foundation extended its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Kwara State, particularly the affected communities and bereaved families.

It also sympathized with the Government and people of Niger State and other impacted areas, affirming its solidarity with all communities affected by the violence.

While commending the prompt response of the Federal Government and supporting the efforts of state governments to address the security challenges, SABMF called for intensified action to prevent future tragedies.

It urged the Federal Government, working closely with state authorities, to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve inter-agency coordination, and invest in community-based early warning systems.

The Foundation further advocated for heightened security operations in affected and border communities, especially in Kwara and Niger States; the immediate provision of humanitarian assistance to displaced persons, survivors, and grieving families; and thorough investigations to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks, including their sponsors and collaborators.

SABMF also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the collective effort to restore and sustain peace.

The statement concluded with prayers for the eternal rest of the victims and comfort and strength for their families and communities during this difficult period.
