Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment, Margaret Elayo has inaugurated 10 boreholes, 40 units of street lights and drugs worth 2million naira in Uke, Karu local government area of the State as part of efforts to improve the wellbeing of the People.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources Doctor Margrate Elayo stated that the project was achieved through public-private partnership.
Doctor Margaret Elayo lauded the Mining company for its willingness to partner the State Government towards providing the desired basic needs to the people of Uke in Karu local government area.
The Environment and Natural Resources Commissioner also appreciated the Executive Director of the mining company Alhaji Yakubu Sawadogo for adhering strictly to mining laws by investing in their host community which is evident in the number of boreholes, streets light and drugs provided for the Uke community.
She reiterated the present administration’s readiness to Providing environment conducive to attract foreign investors.
Doctor Margaret Elayo called on residents of Uke Community to imbibe the habit of taking ownership of government and private property for the overall progress and development of the state.
The Executive Director of the Mining company, Yakubu Sawadogo in a remark commended the state ministry of environment for providing a level playing field for investors to do their business in the state.
Some residents in Uke Community, Bala Takuruku and Kalibo Habila expressed confidence that the humanitarian gesture would go a long way to reduce their plights.
Also speaking, the Yakanaja of Uke, Doctor Ahmed Abdullahi Hassan assured the State Commissioner for environment and natural resources of his support to ensure that miners and host community coexist peacefully.
