The Kano State Hospitals Management Board HMB has confirmed  the unfortunate incident involving the late Aishatu Umar occurred at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, following a preliminary and transparent investigation ordered by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda.

In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, the Management disclosed that three personnel directly involved in the case have been suspended from all clinical duties with immediate effect.

According to the statement, the decision was taken in line with the Board’s commitment to accountability, professionalism, and patient safety, pending the outcome of further investigations.

The Board also revealed that the matter has been formally referred to the Kano State Medical Ethics Committee for a comprehensive investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with existing laws, professional guidelines, and ethical standards.

Expressing sympathy over the incident, the Kano State Hospitals Management Board extended its deepest condolences to the family of the late Aishatu Umar, describing the loss as painful and regrettable.

The statement reassured members of the public that the Board will not tolerate negligence in any form and remains committed to taking decisive measures to protect the lives, dignity, and trust of patients across all state-owned health facilities.

It further emphasized that the Management Board is strengthening internal monitoring systems, enforcing professional standards, and implementing preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
