Kebbi State Ministry of Justice has recorded significant progress in the administration of criminal justice in 2025, with improved conviction rates, faster case disposal and stronger collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Lawal Hudu Garba, SAN, disclosed this in an interview, where he gave a breakdown of the department’s performance from January to December 2025.

He said the achievements were recorded under the leadership of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Junaidu Bello Marshall, according to data obtained from key departments of the ministry.

Findings showed that, the ministry handled more than 800 distinct legal matters within the year, covering a broad spectrum of activities ranging from advisory services at the pre-prosecution stage to high-profile litigation before the Supreme Court.

Garba said the office received 84 case files for legal advice and processed 383 bail applications during the period adding that, the department filed 135 criminal cases at the High Court, handled 50 appeals at the same court, prosecuted 19 cases at the Court of Appeal in Sokoto, and represented the state in 25 matters before the Supreme Court.

According to him, the DPP’s office also conducted 17 cases at the Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi while the final number of judgments secured across all court levels was still being compiled.
