The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded another operational success with the arrest of a suspect found in possession of a large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp during a routine patrol in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, on Sunday, 28th December 2025, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol (SHP) stationed at Kasuwan Daji along Kaura Namoda Road, led by ASP Atahiru Mohamed, intercepted a Golf vehicle during a routine stop-and-search operation.

The vehicle was conveying a large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp while upon sighting the patrol team, the driver attempted to escape but was successfully apprehended with the assistance of vigilant members of the Kasuwan Daji community.
The suspect was arrested, and the exhibits were recovered.

The statement added that the case is currently under investigation with a view to identifying and arresting other members of the suspected drug trafficking network.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, commended the vigilance and cooperation of the people of Kasuwan Daji for their timely assistance and urged members of the public to sustain collaboration with the Police in the fight against drug-related offences and other criminal activities across the state.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property of the good people of Zamfara State.
