President Bola Tinubu has spoken by telephone with Nigerian-British boxing star Anthony Joshua following a tragic road accident in Ogun State that left the former heavyweight champion injured and claimed the lives of two of his associates.

In a statement released by the special Adviser to the president on information and strategy Bayo Onanugasaid the President said he personally conveyed his condolences to Joshua and wished him a speedy recovery. Tinubu added that Joshua assured him he was receiving adequate medical care.

The President also spoke with Joshua’s mother to offer prayers and comfort, noting that she expressed appreciation for the call.

According to the statement, Tinubu further contacted Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was at the hospital with Joshua and his family. The governor assured the President that everything possible would be done to ensure the boxer receives the best medical attention.

Tinubu prayed for Joshua’s quick recovery and for God to grant eternal rest to the souls of the deceased associates.
