Federal Government has declared Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations.

It also declared Wednesday, January 1, 2026, as a public holiday to celebrate the New Year.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to use the season to reflect on humanity core values of love, peace.

Tunji-Ojo urged citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds, to pray for sustained peace, improved security and national development during the festive period.

He also advised Nigerians to remain law-abiding and security-conscious while celebrating, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in ensuring a peaceful holiday season.
