Kano State Police Command has concluded comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, assuring residents of adequate protection of lives and property throughout the festive period.
Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this while meeting with operational commanders, including heads of departments, area and tactical commanders, squadron commanders and divisional police officers at the Command Headquarters.
CP Bakori said the move was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to all police commands nationwide to deploy adequate personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful, safe and crime-free celebration.
According to him, the Command has ordered intensified patrols, enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations and sustained confidence-building engagements across the state before, during and after the festivities.
He maintained that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have put in place robust measures to secure worship centres, recreational facilities, major roads and public spaces across Kano State.
The Commissioner further directed all operational commanders to ensure round-the-clock patrols, effective traffic control to guarantee smooth vehicular movement, and improved intelligence gathering to forestall criminal activities during the period.
As part of the security arrangements, the Command issued a series of safety advisories to residents, urging them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements or objects to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
