The Kaduna Peace Public Square event, held on December 21, 2025, brought together youth leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders to promote peace and social cohesion in Plateau and Kaduna States. The event, organized by Voices of Resilience Network under the Delimi Prosper Project, emphasized the importance of community-led initiatives in addressing ethno-religious tensions, economic disparities, and access to education and opportunities.

The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Fadila Yunusa Adamu, which explored the themes of peace and social cohesion. According to the discussion, peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a state of mind where people feel safe, respected, and valued. Social cohesion, on the other hand, is the glue that holds communities together, building relationships, trust, and a sense of belonging among diverse groups.

A short film titled “Hate is Like a Party Jellof” was screened, highlighting the importance of peace and social cohesion. Poetry performances emphasized the power of art in promoting peace, while Yusuf Idris Amoke – Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Climate Change, Kaduna State, delivered a keynote speech discussing the importance of climate action in promoting peace and the importance of youth engagement.

The event facilitated dialogue among participants, focusing on community-led peace initiatives and addressing ethno-religious tensions, economic disparities, and access to education and opportunities. The Delimi Prosper Project, supported by Spring Nigeria, aims to strengthen community structures and capacities for peacebuilding, empowering over 150 young people, including women and persons with disabilities, through training on peace education, digital advocacy, and conflict-sensitive storytelling.

The event highlighted the importance of inclusivity, representation, and addressing misinformation in promoting peace and social cohesion. It also emphasized the role of youth and women in driving peacebuilding efforts and the need for collective action to build a safer and more resilient community.
