The legacy of late President Muhammadu Buhari was celebrated on Monday at the official launch of his biography, “From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari,” held at the State House in Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described Buhari as a disciplined and selfless leader whose values of integrity, humility, and public service continue to inspire Nigerians.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu reflected on their shared political journey that culminated in the historic 2015 electoral victory and the formation of a broad political coalition. He urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to draw lessons from Buhari’s life and leadership.
The President highlighted Buhari’s contributions to national security, infrastructure, social justice, and principled leadership, noting that the biography provides an honest account of both his achievements and challenges.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, responsible governance, and prioritizing national interest, while praying for Allah’s mercy on the late leader and comfort for his family.
Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State praised the enduring partnership between Tinubu and Buhari, noting that it shaped critical milestones in Nigeria’s political history.
He also commended the Buhari family, led by former First Lady Aisha Buhari, for pledging the book’s proceeds to humanitarian, education, and health initiatives.
The governor further lauded the author for producing a well-researched, balanced account that preserves the historical record for future generations.
Buhari’s eldest daughter, Hadiza Nana Buhari, described the book as a truthful reflection of her father’s life of service, integrity, and restraint.
She thanked President Tinubu for completing the National Armed Forces and Police Support Centre in Abuja, a project initiated by her father, and offered prayers for guidance for Nigeria’s leaders.
The event was attended by members of the Buhari family, close political allies, and former appointees who served under his administration, reinforcing a shared commitment to building on his legacy of disciplined leadership and public service.
