The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, has approved the appointment of Professor Ahmed Mohammed Gumel as the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, said the selection process followed a rigorous and meticulous process.

According to him, 21 applicants were shortlisted and interviewed at the of which Professor Gumel emerged as the new VC of the FUD.

Professor Uba congratulated the new VC and prayed to Allah to guide him in the discharge of his duties.

In his remark, the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Gumel thanked almighty Allah for his emergence as the new VC.

Gumel, also extended his gratitude to the joint selection team, the Chairman of the Governing Council, incumbent VC and the entire council of the university for the confidence reposed in him.

He added that he will strive to do his best to build on the outstanding achievements of the current VC.

Radio Nigeria reports that, Professor Ahmad Mohammed Gumel is an Alumnus of University Malaya in Malaysia, where he received Master of Biotechnology and Ph.D in Industrial Biotechnology with specialization in Biocatalysis and Bioprocess.
