The Senate has screened General Christopher Musa for appointment as minister of Defence
The screening exercise lasted for hours due to the importance of the challenges bedeviling the country at the moment and urgent need to have a lasting peace for socio economic development in Nigeria
The nominee has pledged to give his best in ensuring that Nigeria is secure and safe together, assuring that no single individual can do it alone, we need the support of every Nigerian living in the country.
General Christopher reminded that the enemies we are dealing with are evil forces that don’t mean good to this country, they have no respect for human life, hence it is important for us to know that if we don’t work as a team we will give them the opportunity to continue with their evil deeds
He assured collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders, saying one important thing to know is that the challenge is very difficult one because the criminals are doing it under the influence of drugs and other devilish substances.
All the senators supported the nomination of president Bola Ahmad Tinubu of the former chief of Defence staff and assured to give all the necessary support needed to ensure secured and egalitarian society In Nigeria
The senate president Godswil Akpabio in his comment commended president Bola Ahmad Tinubu for the selection of general Christopher Musa and rejected the idea of negotiation with the bandits and other criminal element in the country,
He assured National Assembly’s support in legislations and appropriations for successful implementation of strategic plans to quench the carnage
In his comment senator Abdul Ningi supported the nominee’s appeal that we must joint hands in dealing with insecurity issues due to its dangers
He said this kind of insecurity issues can not be solve by the use of a kinetic means it need the support of all those concerned especially the communities, the state Governors adding that the military can only use 20 percent but the remaining 80 percent need to be in use for a successful achievement
Senator Abdul Ningi appealed on the need to purchase modern weaponry for the security forces especially the military in protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, wondering why criminals will be having the most modern equipment than the solders.
Finally the minister of Defence Christopher Musa had assured Nigerians that he is going to review some of the lapses in the military operation to be able to succeed in the fight against terrorism and all other form of criminalities in the country, urging the full support of the National Assembly on its appropriation needs.
