The Niger state Government has assured stakeholders and partners on agriculture of its full cooperation and and unwavering commitment to any initiative that improved productivity, support farmers and advance sustainable food security for the state and Nigeria.

Especially those related to empowering small holder farmers that form the backbone of their food production system.
Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago stated this at the opening of Niger State Council On Agriculture, with the theme “Driving Transformative And Sustainable Agricultural Reform In Niger State: Bridging Policy And Impact To Overcome Systemic Cap” held in Minna.
Represented by the Deputy Chief Of Staff Government House, Sadiq Yusuf, Governor Bago charged participants to generate practical actionable recommendations to address challenges confronting agricultural sector, and advised youth to engage in farming to become self reliant, while assuring them of government support to thrive.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Mathew Ahmed, appreciated Governor Umar Bago for making agriculture attractive because they have not had it better like this before, and called for collective effort to succeed.
The Permanent Secretary later presented an award from his ministry in collaboration with AGRA to Governor Bago for his agricultural transformation drive as well as his Deputy through the Deputy Chief of Staff, Sadik Yusuf, while goodwill messages were presented at the occasion.
