The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) says it is expanding intervention programmes to the education and health sectors to enhance efficient service delivery.

Managing Director of the Agency ,Abba Abubakar Aliyu disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony for the installation of a 1.5 megawatts solar grid and a 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano.

Abubakar explained that the project is part of the agency’s initiative to solarise health institutions across the country to improve service reliability and reduce dependence on the national electricity grid.

He noted that REA’s interventions also extend to agriculture and security, noting that seventeen federal institutions have benefited under its education-sector projects.

The Managing Director said the solar installation and Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment would significantly enhance the hospital’s operational efficiency and improve patients’ access to quality medical services.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Isa Nurudden, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the agency for their support, saying the intervention would reduce electricity costs and lessen the financial burden on patients.
