The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has appointed Deputy Director John Okor Odey as its new Spokesperson.
The appointment was announced in an official statement signed by Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, Esq., DSSRS, JP, Secretary to the Commission.
Mr. Odey succeeds Mr. Demola Bakare, fsi, and will head the Commission’s newly established Media and Public Communications Unit under the Office of the Honourable Chairman.
According to the ICPC, the new unit aims to strengthen strategic communication and deepen public engagement as part of efforts to promote transparency and build public trust.
The Commission noted that Mr. Odey’s extensive experience in media, communication, and public relations places him in a strong position to enhance ICPC’s visibility and reinforce its anti-corruption initiatives.
Before joining the Commission, he worked as an editor, scriptwriter, and broadcast presenter. At the ICPC, he has served in the Public Enlightenment Department, Protocol Unit, and Zonal Operations.
Mr. Odey holds a degree in English/Literature, a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies, and an MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies. He also holds a Professional Diploma in Public Relations and is a certified member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
His appointment is expected to further strengthen the Commission’s communication structure and enhance its engagement with stakeholders across the country.
