The notorious bandit group, Lakurawa, has killed a pregnant woman and six others in Alkalije village, Kilgori District, Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to eyewitnesses, who narrowly escaped the attack, said two others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Abubakar Rufa’i said there was no official report concerning the incident at the time of writing this report.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, decried the repeated assaults and blamed the tragedy on the lack of a permanent security presence in the area.
He said the attack is not an isolated case, for a long time, residents of Alkalije and neighbouring villages have endured persistent raids, abductions, and extortion by heavily armed groups operating freely between Sokoto and Kebbi states.
